The only "help" I've been able to get beyond this is being told that I'm not really seeing the symptoms that I'm seeing.

Thing's I've tried include updating display drivers to the newest version (no change) and I switched the audio quality from 7.1 to 5.1 (this did actually help a little bit, but still mostly unwatchable). I am using the app from Plex (not the windows store app or web browser) on the HTPC, I am wired via CAT6, I can play 4K content from YouTube fine, and all the other 4K files in Plex also play completely fine.

To check, I went to the "Now Playing" screen and it shows Direct Play when I hover the thumb nail (which I'm just assuming means it is using Direct Play, if that's not correct, please let me know) Here are the steps to install Plex on Android TV Box (works more or less the same way on both types of boxes): 1- Open Google Play Store (4 days ago) When playing content, the Plex App will use a series of heuristics to determine which file version to play Plex stuttering video Plex stuttering video. To my knowledge, there is no transcoding taking place as both the client and server are showing the videos are being played with Direct Play. While playing these particular videos, the CPU utilization on the HTPC will be at 100%. This only happens on my HTPC (my wife an I's gaming PC's do fine, albeit they are higher spec) and only with 4K movies that have a high (40Mbps+) bitrate which leads me to believe I may just be running into a hardware limitation. I know the post I am quoting from TheBroook says to disable it afterward (and is disabled by default).īefore not being able to configure Plex after re-installing the application (same problem as the OP) I was having intermittent issues with the remote access not working (being able to access Plex library outside of my home network installed on WD MC EX2 ) and having the IPV6 enabled seems to have fixed all of my problems. I was having the same issues as everyone in this thread until I tried to set the IPV6 to “Auto” within the WD M圜loud settings on my EX2 enclosure. Plex is now able to be configured again, and is working perfectly. Went back to “Network” and turned off IPV6. Gave me a different error about firewall problems. Rebooted my NAS, and tried configuring Plex. Logged into my EX2, and navigated to Settings-Network. Having looked through multiple forum posts, I have fixed my issue. While for the second profile, be it playing over the network, on WD-Nas through Plex or the Samsung DLNA, everything just went great. The first one is having a tremendous issue trying to play them from a WD over the network through Plex Media Player, but surprisingly, the Samsung DLNA managed to play them, though at certain playback period, it’s starting to stutter. Where basically, container doesn’t play an important role.

Seems like these 4K files are like Blu-ray rips on steroids. The higher the bit rate of the data within a file, the more problematic playing the file becomes.
